To get a full appreciation for Artys Grill, 508 Peckham St., you need to exercise your creative thinking and picture a time and place about 50 years in the past. Not so long ago, Memorial Drive on Buffalos Eastside was a 24 hour center of activity. A tightly packed neighborhood of homes, business and churches invaded by the continual flow of travelers arriving and departing at Central Terminal and the thunderous rumble of delivery trucks servicing the almost mile long Railway Express Agency building. With a catbirds seat on the action, Artys Grill provided a community meeting place.a role it continues to this day.
